These terms are an agreement between you and Dylan Tazawa-Lim, trading as Dipple (ABN 58 237 629 332) ("Dipple", "we", "us"), of Waverton NSW 2060, Australia, for your use of the Dipple app for Mac, Dipple's server and its website at getdipple.com (together, "Dipple"). By installing Dipple, creating an account or buying a plan, you agree to them. If you don't agree, don't use Dipple.
They include, by reference:
- the Fair Use and Billing Terms (plans, allowances, renewal, cancellation, refunds, account deletion), and
- the Privacy Policy (what information Dipple uses and what you can do about it).
1. What Dipple is
Dipple is an AI assistant for your Mac. It can look at your screen when you ask, answer questions, point at and mark things on screen, take notes from meetings, learn tasks you show it, and carry out tasks on your Mac for you. Its answers come from Claude, AI models made by Anthropic. Dipple isn't made or endorsed by Anthropic, Apple or Google.
2. Who can use Dipple
You must be 18 or older to use Dipple. If you use Dipple for an organisation, you confirm you're allowed to accept these terms for it.
3. Your account
- You sign in with your Google account. One account is for one person.
- Keep your Mac and your Google account secure. You're responsible for what happens in your Dipple account, unless it's our fault. Tell us at support@getdipple.com if you think someone else is using it.
- You can delete your account at any time from Settings → Plan & Usage → Delete Account (see the Fair Use and Billing Terms §7).
4. Plans and payment
Dipple has a free plan and paid plans. What each includes, how allowances and fair use work, and how renewal, cancellation, refunds and price changes work are set out in the Fair Use and Billing Terms. Paid plans renew automatically until you cancel.
5. Dipple acts on your Mac: you stay in charge
Dipple can click, type and use apps on your Mac when you ask it to, and run workflows you've made.
- Check what Dipple is about to do. Dipple asks for your approval before actions it considers risky, such as sending, buying, deleting or posting, and shows you what it will do. You're responsible for actions you approve, and for workflows you choose to run or schedule.
- Dipple can make mistakes. It can misread the screen, click the wrong thing or stop part-way. Don't use it, without checking, for tasks where a mistake could cause serious harm: for example moving money, medical or legal decisions, or controlling safety-critical systems.
- You can stop Dipple at any time: press Escape, or click Stop, while it's doing a task or running a workflow.
6. AI answers
- Answers come from AI and may be wrong, incomplete or out of date, even when they sound confident. Check anything important. Dipple's answers aren't professional advice (legal, medical, financial or otherwise).
- As between you and us, you own the questions you ask and the answers you receive, to the extent the law allows. Anthropic's terms with us give us any rights it has in the answers, and we pass them on to you.
- Similar questions from other people may get similar answers; you don't get exclusive rights to an answer.
7. Your content
"Your content" means what you give Dipple (questions, screenshots, recordings, workflows, meeting transcripts) and what Dipple makes for you.
- You keep ownership of your content. You give us permission to process it only to provide Dipple to you, as described in the Privacy Policy. We don't use it to train AI models.
- Most of it stays on your Mac. Back up anything you care about; we can't recover content that was only on your Mac.
- Share links. When you share a workflow or lesson, you give anyone with the link permission to view it and use it in Dipple. Only share content you have the right to share, and nothing that contains other people's personal information without their permission.
- You're responsible for your content, and for having the right to give it to Dipple, including what's on your screen when you ask Dipple about it.
8. Recording meetings and other people
Dipple's meeting notes transcribe what's said on a call, including other people. Laws on recording conversations differ between countries and US states, and some require everyone's consent. You're responsible for telling the people on a call and getting their consent where the law requires it, and for following your organisation's rules. If you aren't sure, ask everyone on the call before you start meeting notes.
9. Acceptable use
As well as the rules in the Fair Use and Billing Terms §4, you may not use Dipple to:
- break the law or anyone else's rights, including privacy and intellectual property;
- harm, harass, deceive, spy on or impersonate anyone, or watch someone's screen or record their conversations without their knowledge;
- create or spread malware, spam, or content that sexually exploits children;
- break the terms of a website or service Dipple acts on for you (for example, its rules on automated access);
- attack, overload, probe or get around the security or limits of Dipple's server, or reverse engineer it, except where the law allows this despite these terms;
- do anything Anthropic's Usage Policy forbids.
We may warn, limit, suspend or close accounts that break these rules, as the Fair Use and Billing Terms §4 describe.
10. The Dipple app
- Licence. We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use the Dipple app on Macs you own or control, under these terms. You may not sell, rent or redistribute the app, or remove its notices.
- Updates. Dipple checks for updates once a day and installs them automatically; you can turn automatic installation off in Settings. Some updates may be required to keep using Dipple's server.
- macOS permissions. Some features need permissions you grant in macOS (Screen Recording, Accessibility, Microphone, System Audio Recording, Calendars, Reminders). You can revoke them in System Settings; features that need them then stop working.
- Open-source software. Dipple includes open-source software: Sparkle and SwiftMath (MIT licence) and the math fonts SwiftMath uses (SIL Open Font License and GUST Font License). Their own licences apply to them, and their notices are in Settings → About → Open-Source Software.
11. Other services
Dipple can work with other services you connect, such as Google, Notion and GitHub, and with apps on your Mac. We don't control them; their own terms and privacy policies apply, and we aren't responsible for them. Payments are processed by Stripe under its terms.
12. Changes to Dipple
Dipple is evolving. We may add, change or remove features. If we remove a major feature of a paid plan, we'll tell you ahead of time, and the Fair Use and Billing Terms §8 apply. Features we mark as "beta" or "preview" may change or be removed at any time.
13. Ending these terms
You can stop using Dipple and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms, if the law requires it, or if we stop offering Dipple, in which case we'll give you 30 days' notice where we can and a refund of the unused part of any period you've paid for. Sections 6, 7, 14–17 continue after these terms end.
14. Disclaimers
Except as these terms say, Dipple is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement, to the extent the law allows. We don't promise that Dipple will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that AI answers or actions will be correct. If you're a consumer, you keep any rights the law where you live gives you that can't be excluded by a contract, and nothing in these terms takes them away.
Australian Consumer Law. Our services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. For a major failure with the service, you're entitled to cancel your contract with us and to a refund for the unused portion, or to compensation for its reduced value. You're also entitled to be compensated for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. If the failure doesn't amount to a major failure, you're entitled to have problems with the service fixed in a reasonable time and, if this is not done, to cancel your contract and obtain a refund for the unused portion of the contract. Consumers elsewhere have similar rights under their own laws.
15. Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential losses, or for lost profits, data or goodwill, and our total liability for any claim about Dipple is limited to the greater of what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim and US$100. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law, such as for fraud, or for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or our obligations under the consumer guarantees in the Australian Consumer Law (§14).
16. Indemnity
This section applies only if you use Dipple for a business, not as a consumer. Then you'll cover our reasonable costs from claims by others arising from your content or your breach of these terms.
17. Governing law and disputes
Please contact us first at support@getdipple.com; most problems are quicker to fix that way.
These terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia, and disputes go to the courts of New South Wales. If you're a consumer, you can also bring a claim in the courts where you live, and you keep the protection of the consumer laws there. Nothing in these terms requires arbitration or stops you joining a class action.
18. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. We'll post the new version here and update the date at the top. For changes that matter, we'll tell you in the app and by email at least 30 days before they apply. If you keep using Dipple after that, the new terms apply; if you don't agree, you can cancel and delete your account.
19. General
These terms, the Fair Use and Billing Terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and us about Dipple. If part of them can't be enforced, the rest still applies. If we don't enforce something straight away, we can still enforce it later. You can't transfer these terms to someone else; we may transfer them as part of a sale or merger of Dipple.
